Musée Photo, Vevey

A 19th-century developing and printing process using sunlight and hyposulfite

If you’re at all interested in photography, the Musée Photo is a must-see. This is the most comprehensive photography museum I’ve seen, covering equipment, techniques and inventors through the annals of photography.

A beautiful old studio camera

Every type of equipment is displayed, from camera obscura to the magic lantern to incarnations of modern digital cameras. Seeing cameras from your childhood will whisk you back to days when the most demanding thing on your agenda was smiling and saying, “cheese.”

Rolleiflexes are still in use

An early photojournalist kit

Actual photographic prints are displayed as well. You’ll see specimens from the early days of photography.

All brands are displayed

Tuesday – Sunday 11 am – 5.30 pm, Grande Place, 1800 Vevey, Suisse
