Array of Busts, National Portrait Gallery

View striking portraits of all notable Brits here, from Mary, Queen of Scots to Victoria Beckham. This museum is a fascinating walk through British history, and you’ll certainly pick up many tidbits that were not covered in your history books. Start at the top in The Tudor Gallery and work your way down to the more current Photography Gallery.

The House of Commons, 1833 by Sir George Hayter

My favorite discovery was the Kit-Cat Club, an early 18th century political and literary club. The club was named after Christopher (Kit) Catling (Cat), the keeper of the pie house in Shire Lane where the club first met. Like any other celebrity chef, Catling called his famous mutton pies Kit-Kats, and made sure they were served at all the meetings. Members’ portraits recall eighties rock videos, as the men all have long, lush curly hair.
