This seems like a very patriotic building

Rotterdam Building Details

Walking around Rotterdam, I saw a number of intriguing touches on old buildings. I’m not sure what the significance is, but I’m guessing it’s something to do with local commerce. I was surprised to see similar touches on more modern buildings.

Arras Buildings

Arras, France: yet another town in which to fall in love with charming building details! I liked the expressive faces. I’ve no idea what this is (it’s affixed to an external wall), but I thought the face was an amusing touch! You can’t beat the intricate Hôtel de Ville roof.
