Approximately 50 million people visit New York City each year. I think a good portion of the young females end up in the West Village, home of the Friends gang and Carrie Bradshaw.
My path to lunch was clogged by a hoard of women milling about on the sidewalk, gaping at the real estate. Thanks, Hollywood! So I decided to photograph them, given they were as much of a spectacle as the fictionalized residences.
Lest I sound curmudgeonly, I want to point out that I think it’s great that these shows (Friends ran from 1994-2004 and Sex and the City ran from 1998-2004) have such staying power. They formed background noise and provided cultural references to my formative adult-ish years, too! I’m just glad I don’t live in either of these buildings…
