Mauvais Contenu

Our lone bag of recyclables was the only one left on the curb this morning. Why, oh why, municipality of Luxembourg, did you not pick up our garbage? Is it because the wine bottles are from France and the beer bottles are from Belgium?

For new arrivals to Luxembourg, here’s a run-down on the recycling guidelines:

Containers: Homes are provided with one black bin for general waste and one blue bin for paper. Blue bags for plastic bottles and cans are obtained from the local Town Hall.

Collection: Waste is collected once a week or once every two weeks. Check here for your schedule: http://www.vdl.lu/Liens+utiles/Déchets-p-11648.html

Recycling Centres: You must bring your paper, light bulbs and glass to a parc de recyclage. Alternatively, glass empties can be returned to a grocery store that sells the same product provided the price label indicates VC (Verre consigné).

SuperDrecksKëscht: To dispose of dangerous wastes, consult: http://www.sdk.lu/frontend/fir_biirger/sammelstellen/index.cfm?language=EN
