La Rôtisserie Ardennaise

One of the first neighborhood places we dined at was La Rôtisserie Ardennaise, a traditional French restaurant with moderate prices. We started with a Champagne aperitif, which is hard to get horribly wrong, then had La bisque de Crabe which I do not recommend, especially if you are from anywhere near the U.S. Eastern Seaboard. It was neither bisque-y enough, nor crabby enough. Like ordering sushi on Sunday, we should have known better.

The main courses of veal (L’Escalope de Veau Forestière, €22) and duck confit (La Cuisse de Canard confite, €18) made up for the thin bisque. Two glasses of house wine made up for it even more. Total bill: €85.

While I would not suggest anyone make a special trip to eat here, I am happy to try it a few more times since it’s one block from where we live.
