Peshwari

This is one of the 50 best restaurants in the world, according to a placard in the restaurant. Now I’m not entirely sure whose designation that is, but I do agree that this was a delicious meal and the best Indian food I have tasted! Disclaimer: Aside from much Indian food in New York City and London, this is the first time I am eating Indian food in India.

Food aside, the interior is a real treat. The décor is intended to evoke the experience of dining in a cozy tent under a star-filled sky in northwest India. Again, something I have no experience with, but it made for a nice atmosphere. I wish I had photos, but it was dark and I wanted to be respectful and not stand up and snap away with a flash in a full room.

Most of the food is cooked in the enormous clay tandoor. Per tradition, all food is eaten with hands.
