Trappistenlokaal ‘t Klooster, Delft

This pub is a great pit-stop on a snowy – or any – afternoon. It’s small and offers an excellent range of local and Belgian beers. It has an attached café, but since we were just looking to have a couple of drinks, we did not try the food.

We consulted the bartender for good local beers. My husband wanted to try an IPA and I wanted something dark. He recommended these:

Emelisse’s Black IPA was very hoppy with a slightly burned taste.

Brouwerij de Molen’s Mout & Mocca is a stout brewed with coffee beans. It was peppery and bitter and food-like.

We tried another from Brouwerij de Molen, which is located in a historic 17th-century mill in the western part of the Netherlands.

Brouwerij de Molen’s Hout & Hop was lemony, bitter, a little sweet and sugary. It was a good way to finish off the afternoon.

We easily could have stayed there all afternoon, but there was a whole snowy city to explore.
