
The welcoming exterior
I’m always a sucker for intimate restaurants in old houses with open kitchens serving regional cuisine made with local ingredients. So, Van Der Dussen was right up my alley!

Downstairs dining room
The 13th-century house is tucked away on a quiet street in the old town. Through its history, the house has been a residence for Beguines, a private home for the van der Dussen family, a military lodge for Napoleon’s French army, a baker’s guild and a bakery warehouse.
The restaurant’s menu offers artful seafood and meat dishes. I opted for three fish dishes, which were all well-prepared and delicious.

We were seated near the open kitchen, which was particularly entertaining since we could watch the staff assemble each plate with care.
