Moving On Up

The yells, idling engines and clanging from the street drew me to my window. When I saw this scene, my first thought was, ‘Wow, movers here have a much easier job than movers in the U.S.!’

They take the stuff from the moving van, load it onto a platform and send it up.

Then I watched. It took ten minutes for the Bottom Guys (defined as the guys on the street, whereas the Top Guys are the guys on the balcony. As one set is in action, the other set is literally standing around.) to load one box and one chair onto the platform before sending it on its tediously slow climb. The Top Guys unloaded the items and disappeared inside, presumably to unwrap said chair and box, but during which time they could have eaten sandwiches. It wasn’t until the Top Guys reappeared that the platform descended. Slowly. The Bottom Guys loaded two more boxes, and so it began once more.
