Locals Lined Up at the Dessert Counter

Sher-E-Punjab

Okay, okay – THIS was the best food we ate in India. It was, of course, a total dive. The menus were laminated, the air-conditioned tables were sectioned off and it was consistently busy with locals. The menu featured spicy Punjabi dishes as well as miscellaneous Chinese entrees. We thoroughly enjoyed the Paneer Tikka and […]

This is one of the 50 best restaurants in the world, according to a placard in the restaurant. Now I’m not entirely sure whose designation that is, but I do agree that this was a delicious meal and the best Indian food I have tasted! Disclaimer: Aside from much Indian food in New York City […]

Rialto Market

Visiting the Rialto Market made me wish I had rented an apartment instead of a hotel room. The produce was aromatic and colorful and the fish was so fresh some of it was still alive. The best part was watching the locals haggle with the fishmongers.

That’s the case with Blue Parrot, which is tucked away behind Main Street in East Hampton. The menu features Mexican staples like ceviche, guacamole, mussels and empanadas and interesting large plates like […]

La Fondita-1

La Fondita

Stop here if you’re in the mood for traditional Mexican street food made from fresh local ingredients. The menu isn’t particularly inventive with the typical selection of tacos, burritos, tostadas, tortas and large plates, but the quality is outstanding. And that’s what matter, right? Plus, the fresh guacamole and array of homemade salsas make it […]

La Bergamote1

La Bergamote Patisserie

This delectable French patisserie is as good as any in France, and as expensive. It has been a West Chelsea staple since 1998, and recently relocated one block north to spacious new digs on 20th & 9th. I was delighted to find the uptown location with outside seating on 52nd & 10th. The cakes, tarts, […]
